Laura Albers has been a proud member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra for nineteen seasons. She is also the violinist with the Albers Trio and a published author. 

 

Laura was raised in the Suzuki method and began violin studies at the age of two. Her mom, Ellie LeRoux, was her first teacher. Since the beginning of shelter-in-place, Laura’s two boys (5 & 8 years old) have had the privilege of practicing violin frequently over FaceTime with their grandmother. 

 

Laura received her bachelor and master of music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and The Juilliard School. Highlights of her Cleveland years involved studying with the Cavani Quartet in the Intensive Quartet Seminar and working as an assistant music therapist to Dr. Deforia Lane at the Cleveland University Hospitals. In NYC, she performed with the Wild Ginger Philharmonic, taught Suzuki violin at the Diller-Quaile School of Music and rollerbladed in Central Park.

 

Early in her career, Laura spent several summers performing in the mansions of Newport, RI with the Newport Music Festival. Now she returns yearly to her native Colorado, reuniting with friends to perform in the Strings Music Festival. She has been featured on the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich with cellist Julie Albers and Israeli National Radio with pianist Batia Murvitz. 

 

Ordinarily, when Laura is not playing opera, she spends her time writing, traveling with her family, baking, and training for the next triathlon.

 

Laura enjoys making music with her husband (on piano & bassoon) and two boys (on violin, recorder, drums - the louder the better). This summer, in between jam sessions, they drove across the country to visit family. They’ve settled temporarily in Western Massachusetts, where they are performing outside retirement and nursing communities.
